Autumn/Winter 2011
Is '90s and '00s fashion influencing the twenty-tens? I'm sure we can all relate to a similar feeling of desire to go shopping and conjure up new fabulous outfits after watching an episode of Sex and the City in the 1990s. Sarah Jessica Parker and the gang never failed to look original, glamorous and on trend even by incorporating vintage or last season's numbers in to their outfits, which reassured us..we don't always need to wear the newest styles in order to look like we've just stepped off the catwalk in the latest season's attire. Therefore, it seems that as decades progress with new fashions, some styles get carried over to the next, saving us money and allowing us to still look a picture in clothes from previous years. When the naughties arrived, along came brand new trend setters such as Blake Lively and the gorgeous cast of Gossip Girl, who although share an expensive taste for designer, designer, designer, because they were of course the "Upper East Side Elite," but nonetheless inspired us to create similar hot looks from the high street. Just like in the 90s, there was still great demand for the highest of heels, a part of grunge became boho and denim remained huge. Now we are in to the twenty-tens however, it's time to rummage around for the more sophisticated styles from the past decades and incorporate them in to smart new outfits, as forties inspired, golden glamour and tartan take centre stage.
